Diese Woche geht es in zahlreichen Beiträgen um die Frage nach der Energiezukunft: Sind die Tage der fossilenergetischen Ära endlich gezählt?
Die erste internationale Konferenz über den Ausstieg aus den Fossilen hat in Santa Marta, Kolumbien, stattgefunden. Fast 60 Staaten, darunter die Schweiz, waren vertreten. Auch wenn nichts Verbindliches beschlossen wurde: Hoffnung besteht.
Auch der Irankrieg lässt die Frage nach der Zukunft der fossilen Energie aufkommen. Zwei Monate Krieg haben das globale Energiesystem für immer verändert, schreibt Grist. Dass die Abkehr von den Fossilen nun aber ein Selbstläufer wäre, sei eine Illusion, warnt die WOZ. Wie die EU auf die Krise reagiert, zeigt CarbonBrief, und die IEA hat einen Energy Crisis Policy Response Tracker eingerichtet. Derweil schreiben die grossen Ölkonzerne Milliarden-Zusatzgewinne.
Und dass es Big Oil auch juristisch nicht an den Kragen geht, dafür sorgt die Trump-Regierung und ihr Dept. of Justice mit zahlreichen Klagen.
Aber die Klimaerhitzung schreitet voran und ein katastrophaler Zusammenbruch des AMOC-Strömungssystems ist wahrscheinlicher als bisher angenommen – dazu mehrere Berichte auf deutsch, französisch und englisch. Derweil dürfte El Niño kurzfristig für Rekordhitze sorgen.
