Hitze, Trockenheit und Waldbrände hören nicht auf, die Schlagzeilen zu dominieren – nebst Europa erlebt auch Korea eine ungeheuerliche Hitzewelle, in Sibirien taut der Permafrost – derweil Indien einen Extremmonsun erlebt.
Diese Woche widmen sich mehrere Beiträge speziell der Hitze in den (Schweizer) Städten – etwa Basel, der heissesten Stadt der Schweiz.
Die Politik diskutiert über die Anpassung an Hitze und Trockenheit, die Emissionsreduktion gerät in den Hintergrund. Schweizer Unternehmen, darunter die Post (hier und hier), reduzieren ihre Klima-Ambitionen oder geben sie gleich ganz auf. Derweil streicht Big Oil Rekordgewinne ein.
Bundesrat Rösti will Gelder streichen, die für die Klimaanpassung der Wälder vorgesehen waren. In mehreren Interviews verteidigt Rösti den Entscheid und äussert sich zur Hitze nicht mehr ganz so verharmlosend wie noch Anfang Juli.
