«Die Normalisierung der ökologischen Zerstörung in den heutigen Gesellschaften ist eklatant.» Das sagt der Technik- und Innovationssoziologe Simon Schaupp. Und erklärt damit, warum die Umweltzerstörung von gewissen Kreisen zelebriert wird.
Besonders laut und medienwirksam tut dies US-Präsident Trump, wie er diese Woche mit verschiedenen Entscheiden gezeigt hat. So will er künftig neue Pipelines, Minen- und Kraftwerkprojekte im Schnellverfahren bewilligen. Und er hat ein Tiefsee-Ölverladeterminal vor der texanischen Küste genehmigt, um die Produktion und den Export von Rohöl anzukurbeln. Gegen einige seiner Pläne haben Umweltschutzorganisationen allerdings Klagen eingereicht.
Die Klimakrise weitet sich aus – ungeachtet der destruktiven Politik. Innert zehn Jahren hat sich das Abschmelzen der Gletscher um über ein Drittel beschleunigt, was den Meeresspiegel steigen und das Süsswasser knapper werden lässt. Rund um den Globus gefährden Wetterextreme die Nahrungsmittelproduktion.
Wie nicht die Hoffnung verlieren angesichts dieser Entwicklung? Yavor Tarinski, unabhängiger Forscher, Aktivist und Autor, liefert einen Ansatz. Er zeigt auf, wie man der Falle von Realismus (radikaler sozialer Wandel ist nicht möglich) und Utopismus (eine revolutionäre Alternative zum Status quo kann erst in ferner Zukunft erreicht werden) entgehen kann.
